I customized my laptop to this configuration:
HP dv6500t, Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo T5250, 1.5 GHz, 15.4" WXGA, 2GB RAM, 250GB, SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-R/RW w/Double Layer Support, 802.11b/g, HP Imprint (Radiance) + Fingerprint Reader + Webcam + Microphone, 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth, Windows Vista Home Premium,
i liked all features, except that i cannot choose anyother OS, preferably LINUX OS, instead of windows VISTA, I am a linux user and I barely use windows, so i would be grateful if i can get this laptop without windows vista installed. I think it will save me some money as well... even if doesn't, either way i will be removing windows vista and install Ubuntu linux in it.. please let me know if i can buy this laptop without windows installed and if it will cheaper without windows vista installed!

Dear Sushil,
Thank you for contacting the HP Home & Home Office Sales Center.
I understand you are looking to purchase the HP dv6500t notebook with Linux Operating system. I am really very sorry to inform you that we don't have a notebook with Linux. I would like to inform you that all our desktop and notebooks are pre-installed with Windows Vista. There are many changes in the new Windows Vista operating system compared to the previously released Windows XP. The new changes help to make Vista more easy to use, more visually appealing, and offer several security feature that protects the user.
Security is probably one of the most concentrated on subjects during the research and development of Vista. Now, security on Vista is backed by Windows Firewall, which has drawn good comparisons with the popular Zone Alarm. However, for personal/private use, Windows Firewall does the job well, whereas Zone Alarm is more practical for large servers. Additionally, Vista includes with it Windows Defender - a virus/spy ware tool that is a step above what was previously released with XP. With these tools, there is better protection for the user against what is becoming a more and more dangerous Internet.
